Why Your Order Takes Up to 6 Weeks (And Why That Is a Good Thing)

If you have ever ordered from a big high street retailer and had your parcel arrive the next morning, you might find our 4 to 6 week lead time a little surprising. We get it. But once you understand what is actually happening behind the scenes, we think you will see it very differently.

Fast fashion lied to you

The reason next-day delivery exists is not because clothing is made quickly. It is because it was made months ago, in enormous quantities, by workers (often children) paid as little as possible, in factories (often unsafe to work in) optimised for speed over quality. Those items were sitting in a warehouse long before you clicked "buy". The speed you experience at checkout is built on a system that is harmful to people and the planet.

That is not the Designed By Debz model. Not even close.

How our production queue actually works

When you place an order with us, you join a production queue. Your items are not pre-made. They do not exist yet. They will be cut, sewn, and finished by hand, specifically for you, once your place in the queue is reached.

Think of it like a bespoke tailor. You would not expect a tailor to have your suit ready the next day. You book in, you wait your turn, and when your appointment comes, your garment gets the full attention it deserves.

The length of your wait depends on two things: how many orders are ahead of yours, and how many items those orders contain. Someone ordering 15 pieces takes longer to complete than someone ordering one. So queue movement is not perfectly predictable, but our average lead time is 4 to 6 weeks from the date you order.

Why made-to-order is better for everyone

Made-to-order means we only make what is actually wanted. There is no overstock. There are no end-of-season sales to shift unwanted units. There are no garments heading to landfill because a trend moved on. Every piece that leaves our studio was made because a real person wanted it.

It also means your item is genuinely made for you. Not pulled from a pile of identical pieces. Not handled by a dozen people in a warehouse. Made by hand, with care, to your order.

What to do if you have a deadline

If you need your order by a specific date, such as a birthday, an event, or a holiday, please contact us before placing your order. We will always be honest with you about whether we can meet your timeline. We would rather have that conversation upfront than disappoint you later.

The bottom line

Slow fashion is slow on purpose. It is slower because it is better. Better for the people making it, better for the environment, and better for you as the person wearing it. The wait is part of the value.
